When should you use this calculator?
Record each asset you own: number of shares, purchase price, and current price. The template automatically calculates your total investment, current value, profit or loss, and percentage return.
How it is calculated
Simply update the 'Current Price' column whenever you check your investments—daily, weekly, or monthly, depending on your preference. The remaining columns update automatically.
Practical tips
At the end, you'll see a summary of your portfolio: how much you've invested, its current value, your gains or losses, and your overall return. Keep in mind that these are unrealized gains; profits only become real when you sell your investments.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the purchase price if I bought at different times?
Use the weighted average formula: (quantity1 × price1 + quantity2 × price2) / total quantity. Alternatively, use this website's average purchase price calculator.
What happens if I sell part of a position?
Update the remaining quantity and enter the selling price as the current price. The template will then calculate the return for the remaining holdings.
